What is Clearing?

A second chance to find the right course

Clearing is how universities and colleges fill remaining places on their courses, running from July through to October each year. Wherever you're starting from, it's a genuine opportunity to find a course that fits your future.

  • You didn't receive the results you were hoping for
  • You applied after the main UCAS deadline
  • You've changed your mind about what or where you want to study
  • You did better than expected and want to explore new options
  • You're still deciding and want to talk through what's available

Eligibility

Is Clearing right for you?

UKMC offers more than one route in, because exam results are only one part of the picture.

Academic route

Our Foundation Year degrees are designed with accessible entry requirements, so a wide range of results can open the door: typically 2 A-Levels at grade DD or above (32 UCAS points), or equivalent qualifications.

Non-academic route

If you don't hold standard A-Level qualifications, our 'Prepare For Foundation' assessment day looks at how you learn and where you're headed, not just your grades.

Mature students

Returning to study after time in work? Relevant experience counts. An interview may apply, with a minimum of two years' experience post-GCSE.
