Panellist

AI Strategic Counsel to Law Firm Leaders | AI Governance & Compliance Architect

Richard Dawson is an AI Strategic Counsel to law firm leaders and professional services consultancies, helping them navigate the AI transition safely, profitably, and compliantly. Through his practice, aiadvantage.legal, he advises managing partners, CEOs, and senior in-house counsel on where AI sits within their organisations and how to build the governance and compliance architecture that regulators, courts, corporate clients, and insurers now expect.

He is also a speaker and writer on AI governance and adoption more broadly, known for his "Five Languages of Successful Legal AI Adoption" framework — the idea that defensible AI adoption depends on fluency across five domains at once: the legal practitioner, the legal tech vendor, MSP and infrastructure, AI capability, and governance and compliance.

With an LLB (Hons), 25+ years in professional services, and CPD-certified specialist focus on AI governance, Richard works at the intersection of law, technology, and risk — translating fast-moving AI capability into practical, defensible strategy for the firms and consultancies adopting it.
