Associate Dean for EDI and Wellbeing, Executive Board Member
Dr Razia Sultana is a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol), Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and an experienced academic leader with extensive expertise in psychology, wellbeing, equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI), and higher education management. She currently serves as the Associate Dean for EDI and Wellbeing, and an Executive Board Member at UK Management College.
Dr Sultana holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from The University of Manchester, alongside qualifications including an MS in Clinical Psychology, a Master of Public Health (MPH), and an MSc in Mental Health Services and Population Research from King's College London. She also holds a BSc in Psychology. Her academic and professional interests include mental health, student wellbeing, trauma-informed practice, domestic violence prevention, inclusive education, and psychosocial development.
Before joining UKMC, Dr Sultana worked across a range of academic, healthcare, and international humanitarian settings. Her experience includes teaching and research roles with institutions such as The University of Manchester, Anglia Ruskin University, and King's College London, alongside collaborations with several UK higher education partners. Her work has also involved psychosocial support, counselling, community mental health, violence prevention, and research capacity building within NHS, NGO, and international development sectors.
Dr Sultana has significant experience leading strategic wellbeing and student support initiatives within higher education, including the development of inclusive support systems, mental health awareness programmes, staff development initiatives, and institutional EDI frameworks. She works closely with academic and professional services teams to enhance student experience, academic engagement, wellbeing, and inclusive learning environments.
Alongside her leadership responsibilities, Dr Sultana is actively involved in teaching, curriculum development, quality assurance, and partnership management within UK higher education. She is also engaged in research and scholarly activities relating to mental health, wellbeing, domestic violence, and social inclusion, with particular interest in culturally responsive and community-focused approaches.
Dr Sultana is passionate about supporting diverse learners and promoting accessible, compassionate, and high-quality education that empowers students to achieve both academic and personal success.
