We’re thrilled to share some exciting news from the global stage of scientific research!
Professor Olivier Sparagano, UKMC’s Deputy Provost, was recently honoured with a prestigious invitation to deliver a plenary conference speech at the VII Labuda Days in Slovakia. Hosted under the esteemed patronage of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, the event gathered top researchers and thought leaders to spotlight major breakthroughs in vector-borne disease science.
Professor Sparagano’s keynote focused on his groundbreaking work exploring the microbiome populations within mosquitoes. His research is paving the way for a new generation of vaccines and drug therapies aimed at stopping mosquitoes from transmitting deadly pathogens and diseases that continue to claim millions of lives each year across the globe.
This recognition underscores Professor Sparagano’s leadership in the field and highlights the growing international impact of UKMC’s research community. We’re proud to see his work helping drive forward global efforts to combat mosquito-borne diseases with smarter, biology-informed solutions.
Congratulations, Professor Sparagano, on this well-deserved recognition!
