Prof. Sparagano received his MSc from the University of Paris VII, France, his MRes from the University Blaise Pascal, France, and his PhD from the Institut Pasteur and the University Lyon I, France. Before joining UKMC as our Deputy Provost, he worked for 25 years in UK and four years in Hong Kong in different roles; most recently as Dean at the RAU (UK), Head of Department of Public Health and Infectious Disease at City University of Hong Kong, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research at Coventry University (UK). Prior to this appointment, he was the Associate Dean for Research in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Northumbria University, UK.
Olivier is a Chartered Biologist, a Fellow of the Society for Tropical Veterinary Medicine (of which he was its former President), a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology . He has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers and over 450 conference abstracts and he is in the Top 2% most cited scientists' list from Stanford University (2022-2024).
Olivier has been teaching different biology-related courses over his career. In the last few years, he focused on teaching Communication Skills, Leadership Skills and Personal Development courses, which would align with our curricula at UKMC.
