This integrated approach will help you grasp how businesses are structured and develop the skills to tackle real-world challenges with confidence.
The curriculum is designed in collaboration with industry professionals, allowing you to delve into real organisational problems faced by businesses on local, regional, and national levels.
During the foundation year, you’ll be introduced to essential business topics and develop the academic skills and confidence needed for success in higher-level study.
Today’s employers seek graduates who are adaptable, innovative, and collaborative. In response, UKMC and our partners at CCCU have adopted a forward-thinking teaching model to ensure you graduate ready for the workplace.
As well as the core modules, you may also have the opportunity to study a number of option modules in your second and third year. Option modules will not be pre-selected for you. We provide examples of option modules. The availability of specific option modules may vary from year to year. The offer of an option will be subject to a minimum number of students choosing the module to ensure the appropriate student experience. The offer of option modules may also be affected by staff availability. It means we cannot guarantee the availability of a particular optional module. However, we will ensure you have a choice of option modules.

We are dedicated to helping you grow into a capable, curious, and ethically responsible learner with a strong awareness of global challenges. To support this, we use a diverse range of teaching strategies tailored to suit individual learning needs. During your first semester, you’ll experience a combination of lectures, tutorials, and digital content, along with interactive workshops and student-led learning activities. This approach ensures you engage with a variety of tasks, with frequent one-on-one support and feedback throughout the term.
As you progress into the second semester, your learning will be further enhanced through personalised supervision, especially in preparation for your ‘Individual Project’. All modules are underpinned by the Communication and Academic Skills for Higher Education module, which reinforces and builds upon the foundational skills you develop in the first semester. This structure ensures continuous development with tailored guidance, helping you become a more confident and autonomous learner, ready to move on to Level 4 degree study.
Our teaching staff will bring their academic expertise, industry experience, and research insights into dynamic lectures, engaging seminars, and practical sessions.
Each academic year is structured into two semesters, with students typically enrolling in three modules per semester. Classroom time each week may vary depending on your chosen modules, and will be complemented by independent study.
Smaller seminar groups offer the chance to explore lecture topics in more depth, while your Student Success Tutor (SST) will be available to offer advice and guidance throughout your studies.
In your final year, you’ll have the opportunity to either complete a traditional academic dissertation or choose a business project, which may involve working on a live brief from a relevant company or industry partner.
You'll be assessed by a number of methods including essays, reports, business simulations, presentations, reflective logs, computer based assessments, examinations, and case studies. Some modules include group assessments to help you become familiar with working as a team; often a key aspect of professional and graduate level work.
The nature of the assessment depends on the modules you take. This mixture is intended to build individual knowledge and skills in the application of theory and best practice to realistic business scenarios. It also provides valuable experience in the importance of effective teamwork and leadership in achieving goals.
